On 07/31/16, at approximately 1811 hours, Alaska State Troopers (AST) on Prince of Wales Island received a report of a death of a female in a wooded area near Klawock. The victim has tentatively been identified as 27 year old, Jodylee Guthrie of Hydaburg. The State Medical Examiner has been notified and has requested the victim's remains be sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Anchorage for autopsy and positive identification. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

Type: Non-Resident Retained Undersized Lingcod

On 7-26-2016 Alaska Wildlife Troopers off of the PV Enforcer cited Robert Wilson, age 70 of Nebraska for retaining a lingcod that was less than 30 inches. Wilson was cited into the District Court at Prince of Wales with a bail amount of $160.00.

On 08/04/16 at approximately 1236 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales received the report of death at a residence in Hollis. Investigation revealed Victor Logan Jr, age 62 of Hollis, died in his home of natural causes. Next of kin was present at the time and no foul play is suspected. Logan had Comfort One paperwork on file and the body was released to the family.

Type: Failure to Log Ling Cod

On 8/3/16, Alaska Wildlife Troopers Prince of Wales Post cited James Sacks (62YOA) of Florida for failing to log a ling cod on his nonresident fishing license. Bail set at $110 with an optional appearance in the Prince of Wales District Court.

Type: MVC - Injury

On 08-06-16 at approximately 0444 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales received a report of single motor vehicle collision with serious injuries on the Hydaburg Highway. Investigation revealed Caleb Marks, 16 year old of Hydaburg, was northbound on the Hydaburg Highway when he drove off the road and down an embankment. Marks and the only other occupant of the vehicle were both medevaced to Ketchikan via Guardian Flight. The investigation is ongoing and alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
